Update on Project

Our group had just finished leading a discussion on ICT’s and social change. Through the presentations and further research on ICTs as a tool for social change, we feel that we may be able to incorporate some elements of it into our project too.

We have decided to work on our strategy report. However, we realised, that for us to have a proper direction, we have to come up with a tactic that we can work towards.

Having identified some major themes, from our research, we have reached a point in our project where we are deciding on the tactic that we should embark on. We found that the most pertinent issue relating to poverty amongst ex-offenders, was their inability to find employment.

This inability to find good employment, has been one of the biggest contributing factors for the other issues that they face, including mental and health issues. The inability to find employment has also prevented them from being able to develop a sense of belonging which prevents them from re-integrating into society smoothly after being released.

We have therefore decided that the target audience that we will focus on will be the potential employers of the ex-offenders. Our video will address them, as we have identified them as the people with the ability to effect some change when it comes to the plight of the ex-offenders.
